New Hampshire 'scientists' may not have heard: 3 top UN climate officials say it's about cash, not climate.

'50 New Hampshire scientists' petition GOP types about alleged catastrophic global warming, an industry which provides many such petitioners a living. 'Scientists' include political scientists, a sociologist, MD's, a historian, and cite a CNBC article and a website to back up their trillion dollar idea.

12/29/11, "GOP candidates urged to accept climate change by scientists," The Hill, by Andrew Restuccia

We urge all candidates for public office at national, state, and local levels, and all New Hampshire citizens, to acknowledge the overwhelming balance of evidence for the underlying causes of climate change"...(parag. 3)

-----------------------

Problem solved--the 'climate change' issue isn't about climate but a 'transfer of wealth' as stated by at least 3 UN officials:

1. UN IPCC Nobel winner, Pachauri: ""I am not going to rest easy until I have articulated in every possible forum the need to bring about major structural changes in economic growth and development. That’s the real issue. Climate change is just a part of it."" UN climate chief Pachauri, 2007

2. 11/14/10, Edenhofer, UN IPCC official, "But one must say clearly that we distribute to the climate policy de facto, the world's wealth."...(parag. 5).
And if this happens,
"Basically it is a big mistake, climate policy is separated from the major themes of globalization discussed. The climate summit in Cancun is not the...climate conference, but one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War." (parag. 4). Original German.

3. 10/9/10, Christiana "Figueres, executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)" said, "This is the greatest societal and economic transformation that the world has ever seen."
(Edenhofer, Pachauri and Figueres as UN figures can say and do whatever they want with US taxpayer money transferred to the UN. They're immune from criminal and civil prosecution (parag. 4). They can spend our money fixing up their summer home and we'll likely never know and can do nothing about it anyway (4th parag. fr. end) ).

12/29/11, "50 scientists, eh?" New Hampshire Union Leader opinion

"A group called Carbon Solutions New England has circulated a petition that it says was signed by 50 scientists urging the Republican presidential candidates and all other candidates for public office "to acknowledge the overwhelming balance of evidence for the underlying causes of climate change...

The petition lists recent temperature and weather trends, such as warmer autumns and winters and more storms, and asserts such indisputably rigorous scientific assessments as:

  • "These shifts in New Hampshire’s climate
  • are clearly connected to changes in global climate."
To respond with equal scientific authority: No, they're not.

That is, some seem to be, others might not be, but where is the proof of a connection to human behavior? They provide none.

It is a funny little bit of propaganda made all the more humorous by its labeling as "scientists"

  • a historian,
  • a sociologist,
  • two political scientists,
  • a professor of health economics,
  • several civil engineers,
  • two medical doctors, and
  • some Ph.D. candidates.
Nothing says "We are serious scientists; heed our doomsday predictions!" quite like the overstating of credentials.

If they'll overstate their credentials, then why wouldn't they overstate the connection between recent weather events and human behavior?

Nonetheless, the petition got written up in The Hill, which lent it some undue legitimacy. Voters ought to ignore it."

.
Academic institutions in New Hampshire and elsewhere would lose millions in free US taxpayer funding if they didn't showcase man-made 'climate change' as an acute problem. Many academics would lose their jobs.
Following are examples of grants given to UNH in the field of climate change/man-caused climate change or global warming:

UNH received funding to study how politics affects one's belief in man caused global warming:

12/6/11, "'Understanding' of Climate Change Depends on Politics, New Carsey Institute Research Shows," University of New Hampshire

"The study has been supported by grants from the Ford Foundation, the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund, the Office of Rural Development in the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and at the University of New Hampshire by the
Department of Agriculture, and at the University of New Hampshire by the UNH Sustainability Academy and the Carsey Institute."...

11/19/2009, "UNH gets stimulus funds to test floating wind turbine," Boston.com, DiNardo

"The University of New Hampshire’s Center for Ocean Renewable Energy will receive $700,000 in federal stimulus money to test the nation’s first floating deepwater wind turbine off the Isle of Shoals.

The money is part of $8 million in stimulus funds for a University of Maine-led consortium to develop three deepwater wind energy test sites in the Gulf of Maine."...

The New Hampshire
'scientist' group's joint statement or petition [located at http://carbonsolutionsne.org/resources/reports/pdf/111228_Climate%20Science%20and%20NH2-1.pdf] cites sources to back up their scientific claims in footnotes on p. 1 including:

CNBC is 49% owned by GE which is heavily invested in the climate industry. The CNBC article provides no proof that humans have caused global warming and must pay billions, though it cites New Hampshire's good air quality and low population. From the joint statement, footnotes, page one: "1 Data from CNBC surveys: http://www.cnbc.com/id/43344770." From the CNBC article:

6/28/11, "Best Quality of Life in CNBC's Top States For Business 2011," CNBC

"This year's top three performers — Hawaii, New Hampshire, and Vermont — may be loving life, but they're also managing populations well below the national state average, all under 1.36 million."

From their source, CarbonSolutionsNE's website, "About Us," one learns they view New England residents as 'forward looking' in CO2 matters and think the rest of the country could learn from them.

Unfortunately the 'proof' they cite (below) for their alleged sophistication is membership in RGGI, a cap and trade organization behind which stand Goldman Sachs and other Wall St. luminaries. The dollar numbers involved are hidden behind RGGI confidentiality agreements signed by state partners. RGGI was championed by former NJ governor and Goldman Sachs exec. Jon Corzine who recently misplaced $1.2 billion of customer money at MF Global.
From CarbonSolutionsNE's website, 'About Us':

"CSNE (CarbonSolutionsOfNewEngland) is a public-private partnership based out of the University of New Hampshire to promote collective action to achieve a low carbon society. ...

Scientific evidence is clear that we must achieve an urgent and unprecedented level of carbon dioxide emission reduction over the next decade to begin to stabilize our climate system.
New England with its forward looking stance, such as being part of the only GHG cap and trade program (RGGI) in the nations, is uniquely positioned to serve as
a learning laboratory for the nation
of different GHG reduction strategies."

They don't say that banks have begun dropping out of European 'carbon trading.'
  • UBS Bank freely says the cap and trade program has not helped the climate.

About RGGI:

7/28/10, "The secrets 10 states and Wall Street don't want you to know," by Mark Lagerkvist, NJ Watchdog

""Secrecy and greed are polluting the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, the nation’s first
  • mandatory cap-and-trade system.
Under the RGGI scheme, the smell of profiteering is powerful. New Jersey and nine other Northeast states have sold
The bidders at RGGI auctions include Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, JPMorgan Chase and other Wall Street heavyweights....

RGGI publishes lists of potential bidders who submitted “intent to bid” applications. The lists offer a glimpse of whose trade secrets RGGI is keeping confidential. The most conspicuous are the financial power brokers who generate money, not electricity. The most recent list includes
  • Morgan Stanley Capital Group, Merrill Lynch Commodities, Barclays Bank and Louis Dreyfus Energy Services.
  • Previous auctions have included JP Morgan Ventures Energy and
  • Goldman Sachs, through its J Arons & Co. subsidiary.
At RGGI auctions, the utilities that need the CO-2 allowances must compete against private interests that can profit by driving prices up. The scheme affects the 209 electric generating plants with capacities of 25 megawatts or more.

“The electric power sector will be vulnerable to competition from hedge funds and other financial institutions and entities that may drive up the price of RGGI allowances,” a PSEG Public Services Corp. official complained to regulators in a 2007 letter.
  • The result will be higher energy prices.” ...
What effect will the wheeling and dealing have on the electricity bills paid by consumers?
They denied New Jersey Watchdog’s Open Public Records Act requests for auction details,
  • contending the bidders’ “expectation of privacy” and
  • “trade secrets”
  • outweigh the public right to know.
RGGI executive director Jonathan Schrag claims RGGI is not a “public body” subject to state open records laws – even though it’s
When Schrag returned from vacation, he declined New Jersey Watchdog’s request for an interview. According to RGGI records,

"And so carbon caps and the soft energy path were repackaged as economic and jobs policy despite little evidence those policies would, on balance, create jobs. In fact, most credible economic models of proposed cap and trade policies, including those produced by government agencies, predicted the opposite. While green groups mostly ignored that evidence and plunged ahead with the cap and trade effort, the jobs question was more than academic. There were real economic consequences to proposals to cap carbon emissions and those consequences had profound political implications for the effort that environmentalists were not going to spin their way out of.
